Zadie Tenpenny

Zadie Tenpenny, Writer

Hi! My name is Zadie and I’m a writer for the Northwest Passage. This year, I’m very excited to be in the marching and concert band playing the tuba. Outside of school, I’m in Girl Scouts and play as a defender on a recreational soccer team. I hope to join the Lady Cougars on the soccer field this year. I’m also an avid reader. I love both sad and fantasy books. One of my favorite authors is Rick Riordan, and I’m pretty sure I’ve read all of his books, though I have yet to own them all. Through my love for books, I’ve found I also enjoy writing. I write short stories and poems from time to time. I’m super excited to be a part of the newspaper this year and continue my passion for writing!

The jazz band performed Work Song by Cannonball Adderly and Sonnymoon for Two by Sonny Rollins. “Jazz is my favorite genre and I have the most experience playing it,” Cruz said. “There are a lot of rules to it, but the better you get at it, you can start to break the rules and that’s when the fun really starts.”

[During the performance] the band is split between chaos and order,” Pruter said. “The beginning of the show starts out with chaos and throughout the show, you get little glimpses of order.”
