This year’s prom is creeping up fast —but what dresses are most in style for 2026?
Mimi’s Prom and Bridal is a popular dress store located in Overland Park. They have a large selection of dresses, prices ranging from under $100 to over $4,500 — as goes for many dress stores.
“Our busiest months are usually January through March,” Madison Bell, one of the few managers at Mimi’s, said.
For the first couple of months of the year, all 20 dressing rooms are full with back-to-back appointments.
Prom dress types and colors can vary widely by style, color, shape, and size.
From deep and beautiful colors, like cherry-red to forest-green, to fun and interesting patterns, like dainty florals and pretty polka dots. Textures vary from flouncy ruffles to shiny pearls to sequins and glitter. Statement pieces are very in this year, with bold colors and patterns taking dresses by storm. Sequins and sparkles coat dresses like stars in the sky, and slim fit dresses with a wiry corset.
The night coined “Let me take you to Rio” will be held on Apr 18, at 8:30 p.m. in the Hyatt Place in Lenexa. NW Students and their guests will be in full glitz and glam — silk, sequins, sparkles and all.
