Baseball
Varsity baseball is having a better season, so far, than its previous ones. The team has a record of 5-6, as of Apr. 13.
Senior Jack Wineinger leads the batting average (0.474) and triples (3). Junior Drew Wilson leads the pitching staff in innings (18) and wins (2), also pitching 8.1 innings against Lawrence, giving up one unearned run. Senior Johnny Cecil has the most runs scored (7).
Softball
The Lady Cougar varsity softball team, as of Apr. 13, stands at 4-5. So far this season, sophomore Zellah Nelson leads in batting average (0.562) and on-base percentage (0.667), and junior Ryleigh Bendure leads in RBIs (19) and hits (18). Freshman Stella Byerly leads in pitching strikeouts with 13.
Boy’s Golf
The boy’s varsity golf team has had two tournaments, leaving them with almost their entire season — plus state — ahead of them. So far, the best team composite score is 325, scored in the Sunflower League Championship at Falcon Ridge Golf Course. Junior Carter Mitchell came out of the tournament in the top 25 with a score of 77. Senior Will Fandell finished fourth in the Leavenworth Invitational at Trails West Golf Course with 76.
Boy’s Tennis
Varsity boys’ tennis has had eleven meets. Coming out of the top half of their season, as of Apr 13, their top-ranked player in singles is senior Charles Lin, in the doubles junior Eli Cohen and freshman Nicolas Wallace.
Girls’ Soccer
The Lady Cougars have played five games, as of Apr. 13, with a record of 2-3. They have scored a total of ten goals and given up 3. Senior Isla Calderson-Rufus has scored 3 goals this season. Junior Stella Miyares, sophomores Nia Nightingale and Kenley Davis have all scored 2 goals.
