The Cougars faced the Saints in the first season game on Dec. 1 at Saint Aquinas High School. After a 20-minute warm-up, the players dispersed and the crowd went wild, a blur of face paint, glittering pom poms and Lulu Align leggings.
The first period began after standing for the flag and a brief prayer. Sophomore Ethan Taylor stole the ball, and less than 10 seconds into the game junior Tyler Salmon made the first basket. Keaton Waggler made a move, they got ahead by seven points.
During the 3rd period, the Cougars cut it close. Although tired, they mustered the energy to dominate the second half of the last period.
The Cougars won their first game of the season 55-66. Their next away game against Olathe North is on Dec. 8.
