Boys Soccer loses to Olathe East

The Cougars played Olathe East on Oct. 3 at ODAC. Northwest came into the game as favorites with a better record, but the NW team overlooked a strong Olathe East squad.

The Cougars had some early chances but never converted. A misplayed ball in the NW defense then led to an interception and ultimately a Hawk goal. The Cougars never really got back to playing their style of soccer after that and went into halftime down a goal.

The second half was much of the same story for the team. The Cougars never found their rhythm and struggled to get anything going on offense. Senior Bill Kolega had Northwest’s best chance to score of the match but the Olathe East goalkeeper came up with a big save to keep Northwest off the scoreboard. A questionable call led to an Olathe East corner kick, which they converted for their second goal to finish the Cougars off.

“We didn’t play our game and it didn’t look like we came out ready to play,” senior defender Aaron Terrill said.
The Cougars should have a much easier match against Leavenworth on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
