Girls’ tennis drops close match to BV Northwest
September 9, 2011
The girls varsity tennis team took on Blue Valley Northwest Sept. 8, losing 5–7 overall.
Freshman Carly Olson won her singles match 8–6 in a back and forth battle.
“I stayed consistent and I just played my match very well. I think getting in position to get the ball back over the net, and making my shots count,” Olson said.

In doubles, junior Claire Gordon and senior Mary Slattery played hard, but lost 5–8.
“I thought that my ground strokes were pretty OK, and I got a lot of good volleys considering the girl could basically hit the ball back through me,” Gordon said.
The team’s next matches will be on Sept. 10 at all of the SM schools. Athletes will play according to rank at the different schools all starting at 1 p.m.
