Red Kingdom Rundown

Everything you need to know about the Chiefs Victory Parade

Emily Alexander, Online Editor

After waiting 50 years, the Kansas City Chiefs fans finally get to celebrate a Super Bowl Victory. The festivities will begin Feb. 5.  The parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Sixth St. and Grand Blvd. The parade will be followed by a rally at Union Station at 1:30 p.m.

Venturing through downtown Kansas City can be a daunting task. Follow these tips to ensure you and your friends or family have a fun, safe and warm Red Kingdom experience:

  • Dress Warm. Temperatures are expected to be below freezing all day so make sure to stock up on hand warmers and dress in layers.
  • Go with a group. At least one million people are expected to crowd the streets of downtown Kansas City. The best way to stay safe is to navigate your way with other people
  • Make a travel plan. Many people will be trying to enter the city at roughly the same time so leaving early in the morning would not be a bad idea. Take a look at the parade route map to check for the best parking areas or take a shuttle from one of many locations across the metro.
  • Be prepared to walk. Wear some good walking shoes because you and your group will likely have to walk the streets of downtown due to the road closures around the parade route.
  • Have a plan in case people get separated. Take note of the “child unification” spots on the parade map and make sure everyone in your group knows where to go if they are separated.
    • Also be aware that there will be little to know cell phone signal due to everyone attempting to use it at once.

Don’t forget to have fun and be safe. If you’re not planning on attending the parade, make sure to tune into KSHB-TV 41 Action News for live coverage of the event.
