$500 scholarships up for grabs this weekend

$500 scholarships up for grabs this weekend

Story by Paden Chesney

College Goal, sponsored by the Kansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (KASFAA) will kick off on Sunday at 2 p.m. and hopes to help seniors who need financial aid for college.

In the Kansas City area, College Goal sites will include Kansas City Community College, the University of Kansas, Mid America Nazarene University and Johnson County Community College. Stopping by any one of these locations will give seniors the opportunity to win a $500 scholarship. Other sites across the state will host the event as well.

“I would go to somewhere with fewer students,” counselor Angelo Giacalone said. Since the scholarship will be awarded based on a drawing, “you have a higher chance of winning.”

Seniors will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to qualify for the drawing and four winners will be drawn at random.

Parents should plan to come with students to assist in completing the forms.
