Drama department to present spring comedy “Leaving Iowa”

The spring comedy “Leaving Iowa” is opening April 29 after only three weeks of rehearsal. The schedule put the spring musical “Big River” and “Leaving Iowa” only two weeks apart. About a month ago, the show was cast and they had a week of rehearsals.

Following tradition, the WPA queen will be announced at the basketball game on Friday, Feb. 12. The WPA king will be announced at the dance on Saturday, Feb. 13.
Mural club members Staci Darby, Cassie Jones, Sara Irick and Michelle Landis met on Tuesday, Oct. 27, to brainstorm ideas for their upcoming mural. “We’re trying to put something unique on the walls that can’t be found in other murals,” said Irick.

The Northwest gymnastics team swept the competition once again at Shawnee Mission North on Tuesday night winning the meet by a landslide. The girls showed exemplary performance having people place in the top three in every event. Junior Jessica Tingle took 1st in all-around while senior Mary Graves took 3rd. Senior Sierra Trussell contributed tremendously by taking 2nd place in both the uneven bars and balance beam events.
