On November 26 at 7 p.m. the first four episodes of the final season of Stranger Things dropped. This was a highly anticipated season with the last season coming out in 2022. It was 6:46 and I was trying to log into my grandparents’ Netflix;. oOne of the many perks of Stranger Things coming out on holidays. With some trial and error, Netflix was up and running shortly after 7. Cousins and parents all crowded around the tv to watch the final season of the nostalgic series we watched for the last 10 years. With this much anticipation, the question was: is the final season going to live up to the exceptions?
Stranger Things has been a well-known and loved series for a decade. It has been one of Netflix’s top series since it came out and with each season it continues to climb. Stranger Things has 4 full seasons out and the 5th and final season being released this year with Vol 1, the first 4 episodes being released November 26th. Vol 2 being released Dec 25th including 3 new episodes and Vol 3 being released Dec 31 with the final episode.
Stranger Things is a 80’s based sci-fi thriller with lots of nostalgic notes and friendship. Stranger things is what kick started Netflix’s original success and binging. Stranger Things offers a little bit of everything for everyone. It offers bits of romance, action, violence, comedy, and an amazing soundtrack. I think everyone can find a part of Stranger Things they enjoy.
With this last season coming out, it seems like the end of an era. Stranger Things has been releasing new seasons over the span of 10 years. With the first season dropping July 15, 2016. Lots of people grew up with this show and grew up with the characters.
These first 4 episodes this season is 100% worth the watch and I think it is going to be one of the best seasons yet. I sat down to watch the first couple of episodes and ended up watching all four episodes. Each being close to an hour or longer. We left off last season with the upside down invading Hawinks. All the boys are back together but Will (Noah Shnap) is getting a bad feeling that this is not the end of their battle. The original cast must come together and fight one last time. This battle against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) might not be as easy as the last and they might not all make it. This season started strong. The first two episodes felt slow at times, and didn’t have my full attention at times, but at the same time the switching between storylines always kept me on edge and needing to watch the next.
You can tell the characters are at risk this season which leaves you anxious for your favorite characters. Episode 4 had me on the edge of my seat, scared and overwhelmed with emotions. There was lots of action and twists and there was so much to look at. Those last 30 minutes of episode 4 had my emotions going up and down. There were tears in my eyes but I was also happy. The ending felt like they were ending a season. Even though it was cringy at times and a little slow, Stranger Things 5 vol. 1 is an absolute watch.
Overall this was a great season and I am looking forward to vol. 2 to drop on December 25. Releasing 3 new episodes. I think it is worth everyone’s time to watch and see how the characters end up. The final season will wrap up on December 31, 2025. The final 2 hour long episode is also being released into theaters for the first time for the ending of the series and show.
