NW students nominated for Starlight Theatre

Four students have been nominated for Starlight Theatre’s Blue Star program. Of more than 60 shows, only five to six students are nominated per category. For Sister Act, Kenzi Parsons was nominated for the Rising Star Scholarship, Jackson Tomlin for Outstanding Actor in a Featured Role and Claire Severance for Outstanding Actress in a Feature Role. For Charlie Brown, Alex Teeple was nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Lead Role.

The Blue Star Awards were established in 2003 and are modeled after Broadway’s Tony Awards®. Theatre professionals attend each play or musical and provide evaluations and commentary of the performance to Starlight’s Education Department. Through these evaluations, Starlight is able to choose the students for nominations.

Last year, the Blue Star Awards honored Ellie Rehor as Outstanding Actress in a Lead Role, Frederick Rivera as Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role, Abey Lewis as Outstanding Actress in a Featured Role, Into the Woods for Outstanding Orchestra, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee for Outstanding Lighting Design and the sound crew of Into the Woods for Outstanding Technical Crew.
