This year, the baseball team has acquired a new head coach. Domenic Mussat, a 6th grade teacher at Shawanoe elementary school has stepped in as head coach after former head coach, Richard Kuzydym, retired.
Mussat was JV coach in years past but has begun a new journey with the varsity boys. He has already led the boys in their winter pre-season workouts and is preparing for the upcoming season.
“The workouts this winter have gone well. We have had between 35 and 45 guys participate on a daily basis,” Mussat said. “The program helps the boys get ready for tryouts and the school season. It also helps to build camaraderie amongst the boys as they will soon be teammates working towards a common goal.”
With this being Mussat’s first year with the varsity boys after Kuzydym’s long reign, there is equal anxiety for the season from both ends.
“I’m nervous for the change but I am very excited to see what he might bring,” sophomore Will Andruss said. “He has big shoes to fill, but I don’t see why he can’t make us better.”
