On Oct. 11, the varsity volleyball team hosted a quad in their home gym. The team played against Blue Valley, Lansing and SM West. After the matches, the volleyball team ended the season in seventh place in the Sunflower League standings.
“I thought we played really well the first match,” coach Diane O’Nele said. “The second match got us out of position and we came out in the short end, and the third game against Blue Valley caught us off guard because they play fast ball.”
The players that O’Nele thought really stood out were senior Madeline Becker and junior Maddie Frazier.
“Becker and Frazier played really well tonight,” O’Nele said of the team’s Oct. 11 game. “They hustled, hit well, blacked well and had a good night. They really stepped up tonight.”
On Oct. 20 the volleyball girls will be heading to sub-state, which will be held in the NW gym.
“I really expect them to come out and have everybody play as hard as they can,” O’Nele said, “and if that happens, I can’t ask more.”
