“Every two seconds, someone needs blood,” Student Council sponsor Sarah Dent said.
The Student Council (StuCo)-sponsored spring Blood Drive will be held on March 5 in the gym. Students 17 year and older are eligible to serve as blood donors. A driver license is required as proof of age. The American Red Cross, the organization that collects blood, asks that all potential donors follow these guidelines prior to donating:
- Drink lots of water,
- Eat lots of iron-rich foods, including red meat, fish, poultry, beans, spinach, iron-fortified cereals and raisins,
- Eat a good breakfast the day before.
Dent reminded students that, “Every blood donation counts.”
