Local Independence Day Events

Celebrate July 4 with these local activities

Izak Zeller, Writer

The fourth of July is a day full of celebration, cheer and fireworks. The history of fireworks being used to celebrate the United States’ independence started longer ago than we may think. Way back in 1777 13 fireworks, symbolizing the 13 colonies, were used to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In 1860, congress made Independence Day an official holiday. Here in our own backyard there are many activities, including fireworks, that we can participate in to celebrate Independence day.
