Varsity gymnastics place third and junior varsity placed first in their opening meet of the season Sept. 6 at SM West. On the junior varsity team, at least one team member placed in the top three in each event.
“We have a lot to work on, but we have a lot under our belt,” captain Caitlin Chen said.
Three of the Cougars’ key performers from last year graduated, and the team is now looking for girls to step up as they compete against other schools in the league with talented freshmen.
“It was an O.K. meet for us. There was just a lot of tough competition,” Chen said. “SM South and SM West are going to be our biggest competition of the year.”
