An early goal by sophomore Galen Gossman set the tempo to a strong game ending in a 4-1 win against Lawrence High.
Other goals were scored by junior Logan Kniesly off a cross from senior Jacob Lindenlaub. Junior David Fancher scored toward the end of the first half, and senior Adam Zoellner successfully converted a penalty kick with 3:26 left to play.
“We need to work on our timing between our backs and our strikers,” coach Boren said.
As the Cougars head into a match against Washburn Rural tomorrow, senior defender Jon Sestak is looking for consistency.
“There were portions where we got to play our game and control the tempo more, but I would like us to have more control,” Sestak said.
The win brings the team’s overall record to 4-1, and 4-0 in the Sunflower League.
