Eighteen athletes qualified and competed in the 2012 KS State Meet in Wichita last spring. The boys Track and Field team won the State Title for the second year in a row.
Six NW graduates placed in the 2012 State Meet. Cameron Bock placed third in the pole vault, setting a new school record of 15’6″. Blake Evans placed sixth in the open 400 m, second in the 4 x 400 relay and first in the 4 x 800 relay; both his 4 x 400 relay and 4 x 800 relay times broke school records. Eric Pinkleman placed second in the javelin. Luke Schnefke placed fifth in the high jump and open 400 m, second in the 4 x 400 relay and first in the 4 x 800 relay. Anthony Yates placed fourth in the open 800 m and first in the 4 x 800 relay.
Other qualifiers from the boy’s team included seniors Jackson Barbour, Tim Dormady, Clayton Henderson and Jake Horner. Henderson placed seventh in the 3200 m run; Dormady placed second in the 4 x 400 relay; and Barbour placed second in the open 800 m and 4 x 400 relay, and first in the 4 x 800 relay.
Qualifiers from the girl’s Track and Field team included seniors Laura Crosley, Sarah Hansen, Amy Hein, McKenzie Iverson, Claire Marley, Crystal Osei, Kristina Purinton and Bethany Vonada. Osei placed sixth in the 100 m high hurdles.
