    Raiders defeat Cougar basketball again

Friday night the boys’ varsity basketball played SM South for the second time this season. Unfortunately, the result was the same. The final score was 32–43. The Cougars played a decent game defensively but offensively they had troubles.

“On offense, we just played too robotically instead of playing like we are capable of,” senior Blake Evans said.

Evans led the team with eight points. Sophomores Jake Horner and Keaton Cross, junior Luke Fields and seniors Jackson Foth and Chase Rader all had four points each.

The team is now 2–6, riding a four-game losing streak. Their last win was over a month ago against a tough Washington squad that was heavily favored to beat the Cougars.

“We need to execute and finish all of our shots. If we do that and keep playing our defense then we will be fine,” Evans said.

The Cougars now have their sights set on the Saint Thomas Aquinas tournament, which starts on Jan. 19. Their first game will be Thursday against Bishop Kelley at 8 p.m. at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School. If they win they will play Friday at 6:30 p.m.; a loss will have them playing at 4:45 p.m.
