    Boys’ basketball falls by 20

Tuesday night the boys’ varsity squad battled Lawrence High but came up short with a final score of 24-44. The Cougars hung with Lawrence through the first half, and senior Blake Evans drained a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Cougars a 9-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.

After halftime the game started to go downhill.

“We started missing some shots and didn’t see the ball go in. Our confidence went down from there,” senior Jackson Foth said.

Junior Luke Fields led the team with five points. Evans hit the only three-pointer from the Cougars for the game.

The boys are now 2-5, and face Shawnee Mission South tonight. South will be expecting to add another win to their 6-1 record, and continue their five-game winning streak. On the other hand, Northwest looks to end a three-game losing streak and improve their record from the current 2-5.

Tip-off is at 7 p.m. in the NW main gym.
