Hannah Baine

NW new staff full interview with Hannah Baine, computer clerk

What does your position entail?

Lots of things in Skyward, so I help the counselors. You all go to the counselors for the schedules, but then if you need to switch a class or something, I’m the one that inputs those. I help with the master schedule in the fall. I make the changes to the addresses. I add classes, take away classes and things like that.

So what inspired you to go into this field?

This is my sixth year in Shawnee Mission. I was at Rosehill Elementary for the last five. I was a Clerical Aid, so I did the website for the school, I did the attendance, I covered classes when teachers were in meetings. A little bit of everything… I loved it, it’s been a great organization and it was fun to learn all about the backside of education… I just wanted to jump up to see what high school was like.

What would you say makes Northwest stand out from other schools?

I enjoy working with older kids. I like younger kids, but it’s just easier. I don’t work with the kids at this school as much as I used to work with the kids at Rosehill. I like the diversity of the students, for sure.

What would you say your highlight of the year has been so far?

It’s been getting to learn my way around this huge school.

Are you looking forward to anything in particular this year?

Learning lots and learning new parts of the job in Skyward.

What are your goals for the year?

To just learn as much as I can and help out wherever I can.

How can students contact you?

By phone or email. However, my email is really long. They used my maiden name. My email is HannahCummingsBaine@smsd.org.

Do you have anything you would like to say to the Northwest student body?

It’s a pleasure to be here and I’m looking forward to helping wherever I can. I don’t really help the kids though. I’m more in the background where your parents would call if you make changes to your account on Skyward or something like that.
