2018 Oscar Predictions
Best Picture: The Shape of Water
This award could also go to Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, but I think that this is such an original story that the academy loved. It deals with political issues, filled with amazing performances, and it is beautifully directed by Guillermo Del Toro.
.
Best Actor: Gary Oldman – Darkest Hour
This was a performance that was reminiscent of Daniel-Day Lewis in Lincoln. He embodied Winston Churchill in every way, including the amazing job that the makeup artist did. That being said this could go to the newcomer Timothée Chalamet for Call Me by Your Name.
Best Actress: Frances McDormand – Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Frances McDormand gives one the best performances of the year, and being the acting legend she is, I don’t see this going anywhere else.
Best Supporting Actor: Sam Rockwell – Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
Sam Rockwell had the best character arc for the year, where you hate him, then feel for him. This is also deserved for some great performances that he never got nominated for (The Green Mile and Seven Psychopaths).
Best Supporting Actress: Allison Janney – I, Tonya
Allison Janney gives a hilarious performance, but this award could also go to Laurie Metcalf for Lady Bird.
Best Animated Feature: Coco
This award should just be named the best Disney movie of the year. This is the best movie Disney has made in a while, there is almost no chance this award goes to anyone else.
