    12-14-15 Announcements

      

    Effective January 1, 2016, all SM high school students will be required to carry their student identification card. All students entering the building may be required to show their school ID before entering the school. If you do not have or cannot locate your ID you should come to the NW office and request a new ID card before semester break, the cost of a new ID is $5.00. 

     

    Counseling

    Seniors who are not returning after first semester must see the counseling secretary in the main office to pick up an early graduation checkout form.  The form must be completed and returned with the appropriate signatures to your counselor by this Friday, December 18.

     

    ALL second semester schedule changes must be completed by this Thursday, December 17.  No schedule changes in January.  See the counseling secretary in the main office to schedule an appointment with your counselor to change your schedule before Thursday, Dec. 17th.

     

    The district has been notified by the College Board that the release of the PSAT/NMSQT scores from the October test have been delayed nationwide.  PSAT scores will be available online to students in mid-January.

     

    If you plan to take the February 6th ACT, register online by January 8th in order to avoid the late fee. Go to ‘actstudent.org‘ to register.

     

    Athletics:

    Congratulations to the COUGAR Wrestlers for placing 4th last Saturday in the 13th annual cougar invitational.  Congrats to:  Jerad Habben, Efrain Blanco.  Jermaine Epps and Brian Morelan who placed 2nd.  Charles Brockmann placed 3rd and Kevin Thompson placed 4th.  Friday and Saturday the Cougars wrestlers travel to Blue Valley High School for the Johnson County Classic.  See you there!

     

    Come and support the girls’ basketball team tomorrow night at Shawnee Mission South at 4:30! Then catch the boys’ at 7! The theme is PJ night so get out those onesies!

    Attention all Freshmen, don’t forget today is Link Crew’s Cocoa & Cram after school from 3-5pm in the Cafeteria.  Bring your finals study material and get free cookies and cocoa while studying with Link Leaders

     

    “Cougar Debate had an historic weekend at the East Kansas District Debate Tournament. In the Novice Division; Sammy Weans & Hunter Bremenkamp won 80% of their rounds and received an honorable mention. Maya Urich & Colin Jones took 6th place, Noah Gruman & Julianna Kantner placed 4th. Ashley Ellis & Josh Marvine were undefeated at took 2nd place. Trenade Brotherton and Kelsie Crable were also undefeated, and are the 2016 Novice District Champions. In the Varsity Division, Jake Thomas & Lily Ottinger took FIRST PLACE, earning honors as District Champion, and will be representing the East Kansas District at the National Tournament in June in Salt Lake City. Jake and Lily are the first team from Northwest to qualify for the National Tournament since 1996.   Congratulations Debaters on an incredible weekend!!!”
