    Congratulations to the Academic decathlon team who placed 2nd at regionals on Nov. 21st.  A special congratulations goes to junior Trent McHenry and senior Deon Richmond for placing 2nd and 3rd overall out of more than 100 decathletes. Great job team!

     

    A BIG Thank you to the 26 CCC and National honor Society students who volunteered at Harvesters on their day off last Wednesday Nov 25th.  They completed 1029 snack packs- which harvesters will deliver to Kansas City metro elementary schools.  Congrats on such a great service to our community. 

     

    Winter group pictures will be taken TOMORROW in the auditorium.  Students involved will be receiving a pass sometime today with the time that they should arrive to have their photo taken.   If by 7th hour you have not received a pass and you think you should be going to have a photo taken, see Mrs. Massy in room 151 after school today.

     

    Be a part of PTA’s Reflections Program. The 2015 -2016 theme is “Let your Imagination Fly”. Information is at www.ptareflectons.org  with all entries DUE Jan. 6th.  Questions? come to the office to see the flier.

     

    Counseling

    Attention students:  All schedule changes for second semester must be completed by December 17.  No schedule changes in January.  See the counseling secretary in the main office to schedule an appointment with your academic counselor to change your schedule before Dec. 17th.

     

    Athletics

    Any NW student athlete interested in the winter conditioning program, meet after school at 3:20 outside room 135.  Come prepared in workout clothes and proper running shoes.  If you have questions, see Coach Cooper before 3rd hour in room 203.

     

    There will be a short informational meeting for anyone interested in baseball on Thursday, December 3rd at 7:15 am in room 228.

     

    Clubs: 

    Super Smash Bros will be meeting today in room 10. Come play some good smash bros. Love it!

     

    Chemistry club will be meeting tomorrow morning at 7am in room 215. Come find out what we do and how you can be part of the club.  No chemistry experience required. Treats will be provided, hope to see you there.

     

    Tomorrow is Not-So-Late-Night so let show our NW spirit this week.  The theme this week is ‘summer in December’.  Today is ugly Christmas sweater day.  Wear your Not-So-Late-Night shirt tomorrow or you can dress for summer, Wednesday dress as your favorite TV or book character, Thursday wear your favorite team jersey and Friday is Cougar Crazy!  WE ARE NW!

    Love Chipotle? Need a quick dinner before Not-So-Late Night?  Head to Chipotle from 4:00-8:00 PM TOMORROW, Tuesday, December 1st to help support your SMNW Drill Teams.  Don’t forget to grab a flier or find a flyer on our Twitter!

    Attention NHS members, new and old: the December meeting is Wednesday morning at 7am sharp in  the auditorium.  Do not be late.  If you need a refresher regarding the attendance policy, please visit the Northwest NHS website. Chapter dues will also be collected, so bring checks made out to SMNW-NHS. See Mrs. Boren or Mr. Mach with any questions. Thank you!

     

    Stuco’s annual Adopt-a-Tot is approaching and the celebration will be Friday, December 4th.  This is a great opportunity for SMNW students to give back to our community.  If you signed up to be a part of Adopt-a Tot be sure to get ready to party Friday.

     

    LADIES AND GENTLEMEN– get your act together!  If you want to be a part of the 7th annual Northwest talent show, come to room 132 to sign up and get the rules!  Student Council is hosting tryout auditions next week on Wed. and Thurs. Dec. 9 and 10 before and after school in the Orchestra Room 37 but you MUST sign up first!  All music, dance, acting, comedy, poetry, and variety acts are welcomed!  Help make this event one to remember!  See Junior Hope Medis or Mrs. Dent in Room 132 with questions.
