    Come and enjoy the SMNW fall musical “Into the Woods” tonightand Saturday at 7pm in the Greg Parker Auditorium! All tickets are $10 or free with an activity pass. Hope to see you there!

     

    Next Monday starts the Canned Food Drive 5th hour class competition!  The week will start with a BE THE CHANGE drive – bring your pennies on Monday, your nickels and dimes on Tuesday, and your Quarters on Wednesday to your 5th hour class to start off the drive. Then Nov. 16-20, we will encourage classes to bring in your canned goods and cash to your 5th hour class so your class can win the competition for large, medium, and small classes and to benefit the Johnson County Christmas Bureau!  See Drew Vanderleest or Mrs. Dent with questions!  Thanks!

     

    ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS!! Get your dancing shoes on because the Mother Son – Father Daughter Dance is on November 14th! From 8-10 pm.  It’s a decade dance so dress up in your favorite decade! Admission is $5 per person. Canned goods, personal care items, and cash donations are accepted at the door and student I.D. is required. 

     

    Counseling: 

    Attention Seniors: KU has extended the deadline for students to apply for scholarship consideration. Students who complete their application by this Sunday Nov. 8 will be automatically considered for KU’s renewable scholarships – no essays or transcripts required.

     

    Bring your parents to the Shawnee Mission Financial Aid Night here at Northwest next Wednesday, Nov 11 at 6:30 p.m. Topics will include how to qualify and apply for college financial aid, scholarships, loans, grants and other resources, and how to complete the FAFSA.

     

    If you plan to take the December 12th ACT, you can still register online TODAY, November 6th in order to avoid the late fee. Go to ‘actstudent.org‘ to register.

     

    Athletics

    Boys who are interested in playing tennis in the spring, please attend an informational meeting in room 128 after school today, November 6.

     

    There will be a swim meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 10th in cafeteria 1.

     

    There is a short baseball meeting for any and all FRESHMAN and SOPHOMORES next Thursday, November 12th at 715 am in room 228.

     

    Heads up Athletes; If you are planning on trying out for a winter sport you must have a physical turned in to the Athletic Office by noon on 11/13. If you are not sure if you turned one in, please check with Mrs. Horseman in the Athletic Office before 11/13.

     

    Clubs:

    Congratulations to Jake Nobrega for being the Spectator of the Week at the musical “In the Woods” last night! Be sure to check out the show on Friday or Saturday!

     

    Attention all current and new NHS members: NHS inductions will be held in Greg Parker Auditorium on Monday the 9th. Report time for Inductees is 6:20pm and attire is business casual. Report time for returning members of NHS is 6:35pm in business casual attire as well. If you have questions, find Mrs. Boren or Mr. Mach or any Exec. Board members. See you all then!

     

    Throughout the month of November, there will be writing programs and sessions to participate in National Novel Writing Month on Mondays after school and Thursdays during seminar in the Library.  Come to just one session or come to them all – we’ll be there writing!

     

    Come support your Northwest Cheerleaders in district competition this Saturday10 am at Shawnee Mission West. NW will be competing against all Shawnee Mission schools. Fan of the Week will be chosen! See you there COUGARS!
