    11-2-15 Announcements 

     

    The time has come for SMNW’s fall musical! Come see Into the Woods this ThursdayFriday, and Saturday at 7pm in the Greg Parker Auditorium! All tickets are $10 or free with an activity pass. Hope to see you there!

     

    Reminder NW……. all secondary doors to the building should only be used for emergency exits and will remain closed during the regular school day.   This means that all students should enter and exit through the main East and West doors ONLY, during the school day and need to have their ID to present.

     

    Counseling: 

    A representative from Simpson College will be visiting on Thursday, November 5th at 12:00.  See Mrs. Alvey in the office for information.

     

    If you plan to take the December 12th ACT, you can still register online by November 6th in order to avoid the late fee. Go to ‘actstudent.org‘ to register. 

     

    Athletics

    Cross Country Teams ran in the State Cross Country meet at Rim Rock farm on Saturday with the Girls team placing 6th and Boys finishing 11th in state. Molly Born was the individual Class 6A Champion! Classes 3A, 5A and 6A ran at Rim Rock with Molly being selected to receive the Timmons Award trophy for the outstanding Girl in the State meet. Her time was the fastest of all the girls in all 3 classes.  Congratulations!!

     

    Attention all students interested in being on the wrestling team this winter.  There is an important meeting this Wednesday November 4th after school at 2:50pm in the Room B.  Come sign up for the team and the 3rd annual SMNW Wrestling Challenge Tournament.  No experience required, but helpful.  Have a great day Cougars.

     

    Boys who are interested in playing tennis in the spring, please attend an informational meeting

    in room 128 after school on Wednesday, November 4.

     

    If you are planning on trying out for a winter sport you must have a physical turned in to the Athletic Office by noon on 11/13. If you are not sure if you turned one in, please check with Mrs. Horseman in the Athletic Office before 11/13.  

     

    Clubs:

    NW Robotics participated in the local CowTown Throwdown event this week-end.  There was some technical difficulty on Friday night and Saturday morning but they powered through and made a small change so that our robot was functional, which they prevailed and Our alliance ended up being ranked third overall making it to the last round of the semifinals. Interested in learning more? Come to room C after school on Tuesday to join our robotics team!

     

    ATTENTION ALL CURRENT NHS MEMBERS: We have a meeting at 7 am on Wednesday the 4th. This is a mandatory meeting and we will discuss the matter of incoming members. See you there, thanks!

     

    Ever thought about writing a book someday? Start that ‘someday’ now! Throughout the month of November, there will be writing programs and sessions to participate in National Novel Writing Month on Mondays after school and Thursdays during seminar in the Library.  Come to just one session or come to them all – we’ll be there writing! Also, come hear award-winning author E.K. Johnston speak on Thursday – See Mrs. Stigge in the library for a reservation.
