Attention Seniors. Balfour is in front of the auditorium today from 11 to 3 to take orders for graduation including cap and gowns and any item from their catalog.  The last day they will be at NW to take orders will be tomorrowduring seminar. If you want to place your order after tomorrow you will need to go online to balfour.com


If you ordered Homecoming pictures you can pick them up during lunch periods today in the mall.


Attention NW: Beginning immediately, all secondary doors to the building should only be used for emergency exits and will remain closed during the regular school day.   Entry to the building will be through the main East and West doors for all except teachers with an ID card.  This means that all students should enter and exit through the main East and West doors ONLY during the school day.  All students entering the building need to have their ID to present.



Representatives from the following colleges will be visiting this week:

Baker University – Thursday @ 9:00 AND Lafayette College – @ 11:30

National American University – Friday @ 10:00 AND Friends University @ 1:00.

See Mrs. Alvey in the Counseling Department in the office for a pass.


UniverSidad to be Held on Oct. 29- Spanish-speaking families in the Shawnee Mission School District are invited to attend UniverSidad at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 at SM North, 7401 Johnson Drive. The event, which will be conducted in Spanish, will provide students and their family members a chance to learn more about the college application process, financial aid, and speak with college representatives from local colleges and universities.


Attention Seniors:  This Sunday, November 1, is the deadline for submitting college applications in order to be considered for scholarships for KU and KSU.



Bones Jones Jack Attack………………………..Bone Jones Jack Attack.  Last night the boys varsity soccer team defeated the Lawrence Lions by a score of 4-0 and advanced to the second round of regional play. The boys will travel to ODAC to take on the Olathe North Eagles for the Regional Championship.  Game time 7:00.   Come fill the cougar cauldron and cheer the boys to victory.


There will be no swimming conditioning today or next Monday.


Any freshmen boy interested in trying out for basketball needs to attend a brief meeting tomorrow at 7:20 in room 228.  If you are not able to attend the meeting, you need to see Coach Rose prior to Thursday.


Good luck to football as they close their season this Friday night against South.  Be sure to stay after the game to watch the Marching Cougar Pride perform their annual light show!



SADD has organized Red Ribbon Week this week, to raise awareness for alcohol/drug prevention!  TODAY  is Hawaiian day so remember . . . .  you’re too bright so “lei” off drugs!

Tomorrow is PINK OUT day so wear PINK cause Drugs STINK!!

Attention Spanish National Honor Society …there is a mandatory meeting after school TODAY at 2:50pm  in room 109.

NW Book Club: we need to have a brief official meeting tomorrowThursdaymorning at 7:20, in the library. If you have never attended a Book Club meeting before, come on by; all are welcome.


The Young Democratic Socialists will meet tomorrow at 7:10 in room 1:05. We will be discussing the Student Loan Debt crisis.


Do you want to hang out and play chess after school? Do you want to learn the secrets of becoming a chess master? DO YOU want free donuts? If you said yes to at least zero of these questions then you should come to chess club Thursdays after school in room 221!


Categories will meet Thursday, Oct 29 after school for our pre-competition meeting.  Categories Competition is in two weeks on Nov 2nd
