    Attention NW: Beginning immediately, all secondary doors to the building should only be used for emergency exits and will remain closed during the regular school day.   Entry to the building will be through the main East and West doors for all except teachers with an ID card.  This means that all students should enter and exit through the main East and West doors ONLY during the school day.  All students entering the building need to have their ID to present.

     

    Attention Seniors. Balfour is in front of the auditorium today until 1pm, to take orders for graduation including cap and gowns and any item from their catalog.  They will be at NW  tomorrow  and Thursday to take orders.

     

    Counseling: 

    UniverSidad to be Held on Oct. 29– Spanish-speaking families in the Shawnee Mission School District are invited to attend UniverSidad at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 29at SM North, 7401 Johnson Drive. The event, which will be conducted in Spanish, will provide students and their family members a chance to learn more about the college application process, financial aid, and speak with college representatives from local colleges and universities.

     

    Representatives from the following colleges will be visiting this week:

    Columbia College – Wednesday @ 12:00

    Baker University – Thursday @ 9:00

    Lafayette College – Thursday @ 11:30 and

    National American University – Friday @ 10:00 and Friends University @ 1:00.  

    See Mrs. Alvey in the Counseling Department in the office for a pass.

     

    Attention Seniors:  November 1 is the deadline for submitting college applications in order to be considered for scholarships for KU and KSU.

     

    Athletics

    The boys soccer team will take on Lawrence tonight in regional soccer at the soccer complex at 7PM.   Everyone will need to pay to get into the game, students are 5.00, adults 6.00, this is a Kansas State High School sponsored event.

     

    There will be no swimming conditioning on Wednesday of this week and Mondayof next week.

     

    Any freshmen boy interested in trying out for basketball needs to attend a brief meeting on Thursday at 7:20 in room 228.  If you are not able to attend the meeting, you need to see Coach Rose prior to Thursday.

     

    Good luck to football as they close their season this Friday night against South.  Be sure to stay after the game to watch the Marching Cougar Pride perform their annual light show!

     

    Clubs:

    SADD has organized Red Ribbon Week this week, to raise awareness for alcohol/drug prevention!  TODAY is ROYALS DAY so join the team against drugs, and be ROYAL!  Tomorrow is Hawaiian day so remember you’re too bright so “lei” off drugs! 

     

    There will be a DECA meeting tomorrow, October 28, in Room 210 at 7:10 am.

     

    Youth and Government Participants don’t forget the Youth and Government meeting TODAY, 10/27 after school- we will be turning in bills, permission slips, registration forms, and money.  See LaMourie if you have questions or concerns or if you need bill help!

     

    If you want to jump in an awesome club come join double Dutch club at 3:00tomorrow after school! No experience necessary and contact Emmalee Rose with any questions!

     

    NW Book Club: we need to have a brief official meeting this Thursdaymorning. Meet at 7:20 in the library. If you have never attended a Book Club meeting before, come on by; all are welcome.

     

    Categories will meet Thursday, Oct 29 after school for our pre-competition meeting.  Categories Competition is in two weeks on Nov 2nd

     

    The Young Democratic Socialists will be meeting on Thursday at 7:10 in room 1:05. We will be discussing the Student Loan Debt crisis.

     

    Stumped on your homework?  Need study tips for your next math test? NHS students are here to help!  Meet with the same students weekly to work through concepts. We will be in the library: Tuesday mornings and Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Come by and see us!
