    Attention NW: Beginning immediately, all secondary doors to the building will remaining closed during the regular school day, and should only be used for an emergency exit.  Entry to the building will be through the main East and West doors for all except teachers with an ID card.  This means that all students should enter and exit through the main East and West doors ONLY during the school day.  All students entering the building need to have their ID to present.

     

    Stumped on your homework?  Need study tips for your next math test? NHS students are here to help!  Meet with the same students weekly to work through concepts. We will be in the library:Tuesday mornings and Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Come by and see us!

     

    Counseling: 

    UniverSidad to be Held on Oct. 29– Spanish-speaking families in the Shawnee Mission School District are invited to attend UniverSidad at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 at SM North, 7401 Johnson Drive. The event, which will be conducted in Spanish, will provide students and their family members a chance to learn more about the college application process, financial aid, and speak with college representatives from local colleges and universities.

     

    Representatives from the following colleges will be visiting this week:

    Truman State University – Monday @ 9:00

    Newman University – Tuesday @ 8:00

    Columbia College – Wednesday @ 12:00

    Baker University – Thursday @ 9:00

    Lafayette College – Thursday @ 11:30 and

    National American University – Friday @ 10:00 and Friends University  @ 1:00.

    See Mrs. Alvey in the Counseling Department in the office for a pass.

     

    Attention Seniors:  November 1 is the deadline for submitting college applications in order to be considered for scholarships for KU and KSU.

     

    Athletics

    The Cross Country Team ran Saturday in the Regional Meet at Haskell University in Lawrence.  Both teams qualified for the State meet which will be held this Saturday at Rim Rock Farm, just North of Lawrence.  The girls run at 10:45 and boys at 1:45. GO COUGARS! 

    Congratulations to SMNW Gymnastics for 3rd place finish at Kansas State Gymnastics Championship. A great team effort by all five members; Celeste Gordon, Leah Steinacker, Sanantha McCauley.  Zoe Kopp Ellen Schnacker and Taylor Moore allowed team to earn high score of year.  Great job ladies.

    Any freshmen boy interested in trying out for basketball needs to attend a brief meeting on Thursday at 7:20 in room 228.  If you are not able to attend the meeting, you need to see Coach Rose prior to Thursday.

     

    Clubs:

    SADD is organizing Red Ribbon Week this week as we raise awareness for alcohol/drug prevention!  TODAY is RED TO TOE day so be a positive change and take a stand against drugs and alcohol!  Thanks for your participation!  Tomorrow is ROYALS DAY – join the team against drugs, and be ROYAL!

    Do want your day to sparkle? come to the new bedazzling club today after school in room 16!

     

    Spirit Club – Come to our morning meeting TOMORROW, Tuesday October 27th , at 7:10am in the cafeteria! We will be discussing basketball game themes and planning Not-so-Late-Night!  We’ll have donut too!

    Categories Competition is in two weeks on Nov 2nd.  Categories will not meet Tuesday.  We will meet Thursday, Oct 29 after school for our pre-competition meeting.

     

    Youth and Government Participants don’t forget the Youth and Government meeting Tuesday 10/27 after school- we will be turning in bills, permission slips, registration forms, and money.  See LaMourie if you have questions or concerns or if you need bill help!

     

    If you want to jump in an awesome club come join double Dutch club at 3:00 on Wednesday after school! No experience necessary and contact Emmalee Rose with any questions!

     

    NW Book Club: we need to have a brief official meeting this Thursday morning. Meet at 7:20 in the library. If you have never attended a Book Club meeting before, come on by; all are welcome.
