5-13-15 Announcements

SENIORS:  You should have received checkout sheets from your Senior English teacher.  If you have not it is your responsibility to secure one.  Upon receiving it you MUST get all signatures on the sheet before you leave school on Friday, May 15th.  Ms. Schaufler and Mr. Giacalone will be in the mall during lunch on May 15th to sign sheets.  PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR COUNSELOR IS THE LAST PERSON TO SIGN YOUR SHEET!   This COMPLETED (All signed) sheet is your admittance into graduation practice, which is on Tuesday, May 19th at 9:00 a.m. in the Main Gym at Northwest.  If questions about the checkout procedure see Ms. Schaufler or Mr. Giacalone.
NON-senior AP and IB ONLY final exam waiver sheets for second semester can be picked up in the office.  They need to be filled out and completed by tomorrowMay 14th.
Prom pictures and Honors and Awards packets can be picked up in the office during Seminar OR before or after school.

A reception for Ray Marsh Seniors will be next Monday, May 18 at 3pm at Ray Marsh Elementary library.
Attention Seniors!  This year’s SMNW graduation celebration will be at PowerPlay on Friday May 22 from 11pm to 2am.  Advance tickets are $20 and will be sold on Friday May 15th, during lunch, and during the Sr Breakfast on the 19th.  You will have unlimited bumper cars, ropes course, cosmic bowling, arcade games and the brand new laser tag room plus there will be an all you can eat buffet until 12:30.
The AP test for Micro economics, macro-economics, and geography have had a TESTING SITE CHANGE.  MACRO- economics will be in room K Thursday afternoon.  MICRO economics will be in room C Friday morning.  Geography will be on the auditorium stage Friday morning.
The Cougar baseball team continued their hot streak with a win over Sunflower League foes SM North, 15-0.  Brennon Covington highlighted the night with a 4 inning perfect game.  While on the mound Covington recorded 8 strikeouts and yielded no walks.  Paul Bachelor had a memorable night at the plate going 3 for 4 with 4 RBI’s and a 2 run home run.  Your cougars are in a Sunflower League showdown against SM West tonightat 430.  Come out and cheer for your Cougars as they work to obtain a share of the Sunflower League Title.

The JV girls soccer team played their last match of the season last night against Olathe south.  After over coming some technical difficulties the girls stepped foot on to the pitch eyeing a win to round out the season.  The girls were able to get one on the score board with a penalty kick  from Michaela Keller.  The score would stand to the final whistle.  Their defensive prowess kept up to give Jackie Sayers another clean sheet.  Great job last night and congratulations on a great season!

Varsity Softball Senior Night came to a close last night with a sweep over Shawnee Mission North. NW won by the scores of 4 to 2 and 10 to 0. In game 1, Megan Glenn and Madalyn Fagan made very important hits to give NW an edge over North. Katie Born pitched very well only giving up 2 runs. In game 2, Mallory Baker and MaKenzie Cooper led the offensive attack to generate a lot of runs against North. Katie Born in the second game was untouchable by pitching a 1 – hit shutout game. Seniors honored:  Kristina Jaderborg, Megan Glenn, Jordan Cobler and Brittnee Bailey. Congratulation SMNW Varsity Softball for having a great Senior Night.
Attention all boys interested in trying out for soccer in the fall –  There will be a short informational meeting tomorrowThursday, at 2:50 in room 120.   We will discuss summer workouts, camp, and other summer soccer opportunities.   If you cannot attend the meeting, but you are interested in playing soccer, please see Coach Boren in room 120.
Girl effect meeting tomorrow after school in room 204. There will be plenty of food so bring a friend, everyone is welcome. Let’s empower girls globally.
