    5-6-15 Announcements

    Senior Final Exam Exemption Forms are now available in the office and are due TODAY.  If you are a senior and think you qualify to exempt from an exam, please pick up the form in the office and carefully read and follow the directions.  Again, the forms must be complete and returned today May 6th.
    Seniors you are reminded to pick up your senior checkout sheets during your English class NEXT Monday, May 11.  You will need to get these sheets picked up and all the necessary signatures.  These sheets are required to get into graduation practice (and graduation practice is a requirement to take part in Commencement ceremonies).  Seniors who do not have an English class can get their checkout sheet from your counselor.  If questions see Ms. Schaufler or Mr. Giacalone
    Senior/Junior Prom pictures can be picked tomorrow, during all three lunches in the mall.
    Attention Class of 2015 Benninhoven alumni “knights”.  You are invited to Benninghoven’s Senior Reception next Tuesday, May 12, 2015, 3:154:15pm in the Benninghoven Library.  Please spread the word to any alumni as we are excited to see you all and hear your future plans!
    Class of 2009 Ray Marsh Alumni …. A reception for 2015 SMNW graduates will be Monday, May 18 at 3pm at Ray Marsh Elementary library.  Come enjoy cookies, punch, old yearbooks and visits with Ray Marsh teachers and staff. They are looking forward to seeing you and hearing your plans for after high school graduation.
    Attention Seniors!  This year’s SMNW graduation celebration will be at PowerPlay on Friday May 22 from 11pm to 2am.  Advance tickets are $20 and will be sold on Friday May 15th, during lunch, and during the Sr Breakfast on the 19th.  Unlimited
    Reminder to ALL students  –  Food may not be delivered from outside the building without prior permission of the building administration.

    Counseling:
    Students taking afternoon AP exams TODAY should be dismissed from class at 11:15 to eat.  Students should report to their testing site by 11:40.
    Due to early release, students taking the AP Physics 2 test on Thursday should eat second lunch and then report for testing at 11:40.
    If you plan to take the June ACT……. register online at ACT.org by this Friday in order to avoid a late fee.  The test is Saturday, June 13th, you can register to take it anywhere but you have to sign up by this Friday, May 8th.

    Athletics:
    Congratulations to Kyler Akagi of the boy’s Varsity tennis team for a win at Barstow yesterday. Varsity will play their last duel match today against Blue Valley. Good luck!

    The girls JV soccer team was on the pitch again against the Lions from Lawrence High School.  After a dominating performance the Cougars came away with a 3-0 victory.  Brook Hayley continued her scoring barrage getting all three goals in the game.  Incredible defense lent a hand to Jackie “the brick wall” Sayers shutout.  Well played ladies, good luck on Thursday!

    Any girl, grade 9-11, who is interested in being part of the SMNW Gymnastics Program, needs to come by today, Wednesday May 6th at 2:45 p.m., for a brief meeting in CAFETERIA 1.  The meeting will be IMPORTANT to meet Coach Munoz, our new head coach, and receive information that will be necessary for helping you to prepare for the upcoming season.  Coach Munoz is EXCITED to meet everyone.  Hope to see a great turnout.  If questions prior to the meeting come to the athletic office and see Mr. Giacalone.
    Reminder that tomorrowThursday May 7th, is Senior Baseball Recognition Day.  We will honor our seniors before the 4:30 p.m. game vs Leavenworth.  In addition the Baseball Booster Club will have “Fan Appreciation Day” at the game with lots of giveaways and opportunities to win prizes as a way of thanking our student population for their GREAT support throughout the season.  Hope to see everyone at 3&2 on today.
    There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing on the NW tennis team next year on MONDAY, MAY 11 at 2:50 in room 114. See you there!
    Clubs

    Spanish club meeting will be today in room 115 at 2:50, after school.

    Girl effect will be meeting Thursday after school in room 204. There will be plenty of food so bring a friend, everyone is welcome. Let’s empower girls globally.

REbeL is looking for dedicated, involved club members who are interested in becoming a part of the executive board and sharing their positive experience with the school. If you are interested, please attend our meeting this Friday in the FL after school, or talk to Natalia Kidder or Cadie Elder.
    It’s not too late to sign up for the walk to rebel this Saturday at Blue Valley Northwest.  This pet friendly 5k is going to be a great event alongside the other area Rebel chapters. Come support our school’s chapter & Rebel’s amazing mission to encourage positive body image. Come to the Rebel meeting this Friday in room FL after school to discuss how to sign up!
    If you are a SEEK student and you haven’t started your handprint, come by room 105 any time today to MAKE YOUR MARK and put your handprint on the Class of 2015 wall hanging.
    Hey cougars! Do you know that we are in the midst of the planet’s 6th Great Extinction Event? Yes, it’s true and it’s human caused… Anyway, “Intro to Studio Art” students are doing something about it! Like Dr. Moreau, they are bringing at risk, and already extinct animals to life!  Stroll on down in the art hallway and see them in person in sculpture and also on the walls.  ALSO……….Be sure to check out the student paintings on display inside NW’s art gallery (next to the main office).
