    It is National Substitute Teacher Appreciation Week, AND Paraprofessional Appreciation week. Please take time to say thank you to a Sub or Para for their help, as they give to students and staff each and every day. NW is so grateful for the support that Substitute teachers and Paraprofessionals bring to our school and the Shawnee Mission District!

    Seniors: Balfour will be here to pass out graduation announcement this Thursday April 9th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in front of the auditorium.

    Any Seniors interested in trying out for this year’s senior song, tryouts will be held this Thursday April 9th at 6pm in Room 226.  Talk to a spirit club member for more information.

    By Royal decree “The Queen of Hearts” cordially invites Seniors and Juniors to attend the SMNW Prom on April 18th at the Shawnee Civic Center. Journey down the Rabbit Hole from 8:30pm-11:30pm. Tickets sales will be April 13 through 17th during all three lunches in the mall. One ticket is $25 or two tickets for $48. Don’t be Late – It is a Very Important Date!!

    If you are planning to bring a guest to PROM that is not a Northwest student, please come to the office to pick up a yellow guest form from the wall file. Do NOT wait until the last minute as all forms are due by the April 15th deadline.
    Aloha!  ALL you Seniors & Juniors, make plans NOW to come to Fantasy Island “After Prom”. Come celebrate at the best After Prom party on April 18th at 11:30pm.  Have you ever played soccer in a bubble costume?? Well, this is your chance to play boomerang ball, just like you’ve seen on Youtube, OR try out the fun casino and carnival games to win tickets. There will be over 100 prizes given out so join the fun.  Tickets are only $10 and include all activities AND a free tee-shirt.
    “Attention Earth & Art Lovers! Our annual Northwest Cougar Earth Day Art Show is less than 3 weeks away! Use found objects, trash, recycled materials, discarded things, mix with creativity and transform into art. There will be prizes! Pick up an entry from Mr. Hunt in room 8.

    Counseling:
    Before you go shopping for your prom dress, come to the counseling office and look at our selection of dresses available to students at no charge.  Students may come during their lunch hour, before or after school.

    A representative from Northwest Missouri State will be visiting tomorrow April 8th at 1:30 p.m. If you would like a pass to come to the counseling office to learn more about NW Missouri State please see Mrs. Stockton in the Records Office.

    Congratulations to the girls swim team last night in their meet at Olathe south.
    Top swimmers were:
    The Medley Relay won the 200 Medley relay
    Hailey Nunnink Won the 100 Individual Medley, Carolyn Osbern placed 5th, Maggie Congrove placed 7th
    Jessica Kirchner won the 50 free, Carlee Dubbert placed 2nd, Jordan Sumner placed 4th, Megan Lynch placed 5th, Sammie Goetting placed 6th
    Carolyn osbern won the 100 Fly, Maggie Congrove placed 2nd
    Paige Eichkorn placed 4th in the 50 Fly
    Our 200 free relay placed 1st
    Hailey Nunnink won the 100 Backstroke, Cassie Gomer placed 2nd, Astrid Altamirano placed 4th
    Jessica Kirchner won the 100 breast stroke, Jordan Sumner placed 3rd
    400 free relay placed 2nd

    NW Cougar golf team continue its strong start by finishing 2nd in the 1st of 3 rounds for the Sunflower League Championship yesterday at Lake Quivira.  Junior Blake Allen is also in 2nd place individually in the league with a very impressive score of 73.  Congratulations Cougars and good luck Monday at Milburn!

    Clubs
    Lemon Club and French Club will be having a lemonade stand and Crêpe sale this Thursday morning before school! Crêpes and lemonade will sell for $1 each and the funds will be used to support French Club and pay for research in order to end childhood cancer! So, please join us Thursday morning in the mall!

    Spanish club will meet in 115 after school tomorrow, Wednesday, April 8th.

    There will be a Spanish National Honor Society meeting tomorrow morning at 7:10 in room 109. We will be discussing plans for initiation, so please bring your completed points sheet if you have not yet turned it in.

    Girl effect will be meeting Thursday after school. There will be snacks so bring your friends. Everyone is welcome to join us share positivity.

    There will be a Spanish National Honors Society meeting this Wednesday at 7:10 in Room 109. All members be sure to attend.

    Student Council is looking for energetic, hardworking, dedicated, and fun people who WANT to get involved! Student Council organizes tons of events around school and is a great way to get involved at NW. Pick up contracts and speech guidelines in Room 132 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Contracts and Speeches are due by Thursday, April 7 by 3:00 p.m. Class elections will be held on Thurs. April 16 during Seminar. See Tom Green or Bailey Jarrett in Room 132 if you have any questions!
