    Announcements:
    Come and see WORKING the musical this week, April 2-4, in the Greg Parker auditorium. Tickets are $10 or FREE with an activity pass! You don’t want to miss this great show!

    “Attention Earth and Art Lovers! Our annual Northwest Cougar Earth Day Art Show is a mere 3 weeks away! Use found objects, trash, recycled materials, discarded things, mix with creativity and transform into art. There will be prizes! Open to all students!  Let your love for the earth shine!  See art teachers for details.”

    Seniors who are wishing to tryout to be a speaker at graduation must get their typed speech to Mr. Giacalone or Ms. Schaufler by tomorrow, Wed. April 1st.

    It’s that time of year again! Any Seniors interested in trying out for this year’s senior song, tryouts will be held April 9th at 6pm in Room 226. Talk to a spirit club member for more information.

    Sophomores and Juniors; Northwest is starting Link Crew, an exciting new mentoring program that allows next year’s upperclassman to guide the incoming freshmen.  Any sophomore or junior interested in applying to be a leader should plan to attend an informational meeting EITHER this Thursday during seminar in the Cafeteria at 9:20am OR this Friday after school in room 122.  Some invitations will be given to those recommended by teachers.  If you do not receive an invitation but are interested please attend one of the meetings, we’d love to talk to anyone interested in Link Crew!  See Miss Horner, Mrs. LaMourie, or Mr Wolfe with questions.

    “Juniors and Seniors SAVE THE DATE…Prom is on April 18th at the Shawnee Civic Center from 8:30pm-11:30pm. Tickets sales will be April 13 through 17th during all three lunches in the mall. One ticket is $25 or two tickets for $48. More details to come!”

    If you are planning to bring a guest to PROM that is not a Northwest student, please come to the office to pick up a yellow guest form from the wall file.  Make sure you fill out your part, give the form to your guest, and they will have their administrator sign the form and fax it back to us. If they are not currently attending high school, but are not yet 21 – you will still need to complete a form with your Guests signature. Do NOT wait until the last minute. It is your responsibility to complete the process by the April 15th deadline. Stop by the office if you have questions.

    Counseling:
    A representative from Northwest Missouri State will be visiting Wednesday April 8th at 1:30 p.m. If you would like a pass to come to the counseling office to learn more about NW Missouri State please see Mrs. Stockton in the Records Office.

    Juniors and Seniors: We are holding a career fair this Thursday during seminar in the main gym.  Students will attend in 3 groups, organized by seminar teacher.  Your seminar teacher will tell you when it is your time to attend.  There will be over 20 different careers and schools represented so read your email for more information on who will be attending.

    Seniors, if you are planning to attend JCCC in the fall, then come to the Career Fair this Thursday during seminar.  An admissions representative from JCCC will be present to assist seniors with the application process including processing applications and all other admissions requirements. Save yourself a trip to JCCC and come to the Career Fair to get enrolled to attend JCCC.

    Attention Seniors:  Sprint is looking to hire graduates with basic Spanish language skills for a new call center opening on the Sprint Campus in June.  They offer many benefits including a cell phone package and college/education reimbursement.  See the posting on the Job Board for more information.       ALSO…… UMKC is offering a ten-week program for individuals interested in national and state-licensure as an EMT.  More information is available in the Counseling office.  You must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or GED to enroll.

    Athletics:
    SM Northwest Cheer and Yell leading informational meeting is THIS Wednesday, April 1st, at 6pm in the cafeteria. This meeting is for both parents & students to find out more information about the SMNW cheerleading program AND tryouts. If you have any questions or cannot attend the meeting, contact Coach Chambers in 217.

    Clubs
    Shoe KC, a Shawnee Mission district project, is collecting shoes THIS week.  Please bring any type of used shoes so that others can use them! The collection box is in the library hallway.  Help fill the box!

    Attention all NHS members: We will be meeting at 7 am in the Auditorium TOMORROW, Wednesday April 1. Please be on time, Thanks!
    Student Council is looking for energetic, hardworking, dedicated, and fun people who WANT to get involved! Student Council organizes tons of events around school and is a great way to get involved at NW. Pick up contracts and speech guidelines in Room 132 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Contracts and Speeches are due by Thursday, April 7 by 3:00 p.m. Class elections will be held on Thurs. April 16 during Seminar. See Tom Green or Bailey Jarrett in Room 132 if you have any questions!
    Economics challenge will practice in room 105 after school.  Wear your orange army t-shirt for the competition tomorrow.
