    Juniors and Seniors SAVE THE DATE…Prom is on April 18 at the Shawnee Civic Center from 8:30-11:30 p.m. Tickets sales will be April 13-17 during all three lunches in the mall. One ticket is $25 or two tickets for $48. More details to come!

    Seniors who are wishing to tryout to be a speaker at graduation must get their typed speech to Mr. Giacalone or Ms. Schaufler by Wednesday April 1st.

    It’s that time of year again! Any Senior interested in trying out for this year’s senior song, tryouts will be held April 9th at 6pmin Room 226.  Talk to a spirit club member for more information.

    If you are planning to bring a guest to PROM that is not a Northwest student, please come to the office to pick up a yellow guest form from the wall file.  Make sure you fill out your part, give the form to your guest, and they will have their administrator sign the form and fax it back to us. If they are not currently attending high school, but are not yet 21 – you will still need to complete a form with your Guests signature. Do NOT wait until the last minute. It is your responsibility to complete the process by the April 15 deadline. Stop by the office if you have questions.

    Sophomores and Juniors, Northwest is starting Link Crew, an exciting new mentoring program that allows next year’s upperclassman to guide the incoming freshmen.  Any sophomore or junior interested in applying to be a leader should plan to attend an informational meeting EITHER Thursday during seminar in the Cafeteria at 9:20am OR Friday after school in room 122.  Some invitations will be given to those recommended by teachers.  If you do not receive an invitation but are interested please attend one of the meetings, we’d love to talk to anyone interested in Link Crew!  See Miss Horner, Mrs. LaMourie, or Mr Wolfe with questions.

    A representative from Northwest Missouri State will be visiting on Wednesday, April 8th at 1:30 p.m. If you would like a pass to come to the counseling office to learn more about NW Missouri State please see Mrs. Stockton in the Records Office.

    Seniors, if you are planning to attend JCCC in the fall, then come to the Career Fair on Thursday during seminar.  An admissions representative from JCCC will be present to assist seniors with the application process including processing applications and all other admissions requirements.  Save yourself a trip to JCCC and come to the Career Fair to get enrolled to attend JCCC.

    Congratulations to Boys varsity tennis players Tyler Garland & Collin Anthony for their wins against a strong BV North team last week.   The next Boys Varsity tennis team match is this Wed. against Olathe North.

    Thanks to everyone who participated in the 2nd annual Faculty versus Student Bowl-O-Rama at Park Lanes.  Fun was had by all.  It was a close contest but in the end teachers earned a 2 game average of 214 but students out bowled them with a 293 average leaving students the overall winners by 79 pins.  Highest total pin fall for Teachers was Mr. Stubenraugh with a 280 and for students Adam Vanderwerf with a 398.   Come to room 204 for you fantastic prize.

    Congratulations to the varsity girls and boys who competed Friday at Johnson County Community College- and won their events ——
    Abbi Bird won the high jump, Olivia Williams won the pole vault, and Mollie Born won the mile run.  The distance medley relay team of Camille Henderson, Shelby Beaumont, Erin Findlay, and Mollie Born placed first.
    Mitchell Hodson won the 60 meter hurdles, Clay Drouillard won the long jump, and Donte Colum won the triple jump.  The boys’ 4 times 400 relay team raced to first place with Colton Beaumont, Tom Green, Ian McCabe, and Mitchell Hodson

    SM Northwest Cheer and Yell leading Tryouts are coming up. If you have school spirit, want to get involved, and are interested in cheering your team on to a victory, come to the informational meeting THIS Wednesday, April 1st, at 6pm in the cafeteria. This meeting is for both parents & students to find out more information about the SMNW cheerleading program AND tryouts. If you have any questions or cannot attend the meeting, contact Coach Chambers in 217.

    The JV girls soccer team was in action against Blue Valley North on Friday night.  After a dominant performance by the Cougars, they came away with a 2-0 victory.  Goals were scored by Michaela Keller and Brooke Haley with the shutout recorded by Jackie Sayers!  Congratulations on the first win of the season girls.

    Congratulations to the girls swim meet on Saturday. They qualified all of their relays for state as well as Hailey Brull, Claire Williams and Meaghan Bower in individual events.
    Top finishers were: Claire Williams 5th and Mckenzie Johnson 7th in the 200 free, Meaghan Bower won the 200 Individual Medley and Hailey Brull placed 2nd. .  Paige Eichorn placed 5th and Jessica Kirchner placed 6th in the 50 free.  Morgan Ingram placed 6th in the 100 fly and had the biggest time drop of the meet.   Hailey Nunnink placed 8th in the 100 free.  Claire Williams won the 500 free.  Hailey Brull won the 100 back stroke and Hailey Nunnink placed 6th.  Jessica Kirchner placed 6th in the 100 breast stroke.  Way to go on an awesome meet! Keep up the hard work and remember the answer to all of your problems is to keep swimming!

    Student Council is looking for energetic, hardworking, dedicated, and fun people who WANT to get involved! Student Council organizes tons of events around school and is a great way to get involved at NW. Pick up contracts and speech guidelines in Room 132 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Contracts and Speeches are due by Thursday, April 7 by 3:00 p.m. Class elections will be held on Thurs. April 16 during Seminar. See Tom Green or Bailey Jarrett in Room 132 if you have any questions!

    Shoe KC, a Shawnee Mission district project, is collecting shoes THIS week.  Please bring any type of used shoes so that others can use them!  The collection box is in the library hallway.  Help fill the box!
