The Northwest Poetry Slam is a great experience, but one that only happens once a year. If you are looking for a place to share your poetry outside of school, there are several places in Kansas City where you can perform. Every third Tuesday of the month the American Jazz Museum puts on Jazz Poetry Jams where they have a featured poet from out of town and then an open mic contest. The museum also has Teen Poetry Slam every fourth Tuesday during the school year. The House of Poets also has a slam called The Olympics of the mind every fourth saturday. Prospero’s Pit is held at Prospero’s Book Store the fourth Sunday of each month.
