    3-9-15 Announcements

    If you are interested in participating in the 10th Annual Poetry Slam or just want to come find out more information about potentially participating in it, you need to come to the informational meeting this Thursday, March 12 at 7:10 a.m. or at 2:45 p.m.; both meetings will take place in the library.  If you cannot attend one of these meetings to receive the required information, you need to see Mrs. LaFever in the library or Mrs. Paugh in 107 sometime before Spring Break.  Start writing your poems now; the SLAM will be here before you know it.

     

    Counseling:

    Registration for AP tests will ends this Friday. The cost for each test is $91.  To obtain a registration form for AP testing, see Mr. Mowry or Ms. Nick in the counseling office.


    Athletics:

    A Parent/Student Spring sports meeting will be TONIGHT at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium.

    Congratulations Lady Cougar basketball team for winning sub state on Saturday! The ladies are moving onto State this Thursday and there will be a spirit bus going to the game in Wichita.  Any students interested in riding the spirit bus need to sign up in the office and get a field trip form. There is no charge to ride the bus, but everyone will need to pay to enter the game. Student tickets are $6.

     

    Clubs

    There will be a Sleep in a Box informational meeting on Wednesday at 7:10 a.m. in the Little Theater.  If you’re an active member of StuCo, CCC, Varsity Drill team, Interact club, Key club or NHS…please come to the meeting to receive the info packet!  If you cannot make it to this meeting, there will be a meeting after Spring break on Wed. March 20.  See Carly Olson or Amelia Hoelting for more information.

    SMNW’s Louder Than a Bomb Team will compete in the first round of the Kansas City Competition on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The round will take place at Washington High School. Come out to support your school!

    Way to go Northwest, at the Olathe Northwest Forensics Tournament. In Varsity; Lincoln Douglas Debate Tournament and Mary Hayford received an Honorable Mention. Drew Winter and Mary Hayford advanced to Semifinals in Extemporaneous Speaking, while Ashton Hess made Semifinals in Impromptu Speaking. Elise Dorsey Placed 6th in Dramatic Interpretation, and Kenzi Parsons Placed 6th in Prose Interpretation.  Kenzi qualified for the State Tournament in May. At the CFL National Qualifying tournament.  Jake Thomas placed 3rd, and Lily Ottinger placed 4th, both qualifying to the National Tournament in May!  Congratulations on a great weekend!

    Lunch today will be Italian chicken sandwich OR cheese enchiladas with tortilla chips
