The officers of Girl Effect met to discuss upcoming events, such as Girl Effect Live and the fashion show they want to host in collaboration with REbeL.
Girl Effect Live is an event they hope to host during a seminar in April. The idea is to give a presentation consisting of an original video covering a specific theme. In addition, they would bring in two guest speakers for that week and have students submit in art, sing and perform spoken word poetry.
“It’s all going to be focused on telling the stories of the girls who live in poverty and who we are trying to empower,” Girl Effect president Sophie Flores said.
Girl Effect Live is still in the planning stages, and has yet to be verified with sponsor Debra Brewer or principal Lisa Gruman.
