The girls’ varsity bowling team placed third at the regional bowling tournament Feb. 24 at College Lanes.
“Every time they said Shawnee Mission, my heart would pause until they said something after it like North, West, or East. I had no idea we had done so good,” senior Desi Jensen said. “They said Northwest and I just lost it and cried. I was so happy to think that that wasn’t my last meet ever.”
Freshman Alaina Burris placed fourth in the girls’ division with a 639 and sophomore Colton Kinselia placed seventh in the boys’ division with a score of 624.
“I was surrounded by upperclassmen and it felt exhilarating to be up there with them, especially in one of the qualifying spots,” Burris said. “Even though I’m unable to compete as an individual due to the team qualifying, I’m super excited that we qualified as a team.”
The girls will travel to Wichita March 6 to compete in the state bowling tournament.
“I hope we win, or place high,” Burris said. “but the experience will be amazing.”
