    2-23-15 Announcements

    Tuesday night, one night only! The world’s largest cover orchestra will present all your favorite movie songs of the last three decades! The Symphony Orchestra will present “Rockin’ the Movies,” Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Parker Auditorium. Lights, Fog, Lazers, MUSIC! Come out and witness the best concert you will ever see!

    Attention ALL students;  be sure to carry your school ID as you will need to show your ID at the West doors OR in the Office when you enter or exit NW between 7:40 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. Come to the office if you do not have an ID.

    Counseling:
    Registration for AP tests begin TODAY Feb. 23 and will end on March 13.  The cost for each test is $91.00.   Students should check the date and time for their desired tests and check for any scheduling conflicts.  To obtain a registration form for AP testing, see Mr. Mowry or Ms. Nick in the counseling office.

    Athletics:

    Congratulations to the COUGAR Wrestlers, for their performance Saturday in the KSHSAA Regional Tournament. The team finished Regional Runner-Up, just short of 11 points to bring home the Championship. Ten Cougar wrestlers qualified for State in Wichita: Zack Newcomb and Trenton Smith came away with a Championship, Jerad Habben, Trevor Rine, Adam Vanausdall, and Brian Morelan were runners-up. Colin Anthony and Jacob Rosebaugh finished 3rd. Austin Wilson and Devonte Smith rounded out our qualifiers with a 4th place finish. Friday and Saturday the wrestlers will compete for a State Championship with wrestling starting at 10 a.m.  You can follow them by going to www.trackwrestling.com<http://www.trackwrestling.com> ; search KSHSAA 5A/6A. Good Luck wrestlers!

    Congratulations to the Shawnee mission Northwest Swim and Dive team at state. Nathan Henderson placed 12th in Diving and the Medley relay placed 19th. Also, swimmers you need to get your locks to Coach Summers by Wednesday.

    If you are interested in trying out for girls soccer, there will be a meeting TODAY after school in room 120.

    Spring sports physicals are due to the athletic office no later than this Friday.  You cannot try out without a physical on file in the athletic office.  If you are not sure if a physical has been turned in this year, please check in the athletic office.  Tryouts are March 2.

    Baseball tryout informational meeting this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria.

    Attention tennis players! There will be a brief meeting this coming Thursday after school in Room 114 for all who interested in playing on the Girls tennis team next year.

    This is a reminder to all girls trying out for soccer next week beginning March 2. The coaches are having a quick informational meeting today, beginning at 2:50 p.m. in room 120.  If you cannot attend the meeting please talk with Coach Boren sometime today
    Clubs
    Fill out your dodgeball waivers today and bring your waivers and payment to the cafeteria during your lunch TODAY.

    Northwest found a lot of success at the SM South Forensics tournament.  Drew Winter took 6th place in Lincoln Douglas Debate.  Suneet Singh took 4th place in Congress, Lily Ottinger took 1st place in both Lincoln Douglas Debate and Dramatic Interpretation.  Ashton Hess Placed 2nd in Impromptu Speaking and Shania Yusuf placed 2nd in Poetry; with both qualifing for State. Braden Pomerantz and Lily Ottinger placed 4th in DUO Interpretation.  Congrats squad!!”

    Attention all dancers!  Anyone interested in trying out for next year’s Drill Team needs to attend the informational meeting Thursday  in room 122.  You may attend either the before school meeting at 7 a.m. OR the after school meeting at 2:50 p.m. Any questions please see Mrs. LaMourie.

    19 BPA students competed in the State competition this past weekend in Wichita.  Qualifying for the National BPA Meet in Anaheim in May were:  Matthew Owens 3rd in Entrepreneurship and top 10 in Business Meeting Management Concepts Sam Ryan – top ten in Financial Math & Analysis and Parliamentary Procedures and an alternate in Banking and Finance Nill Patel – System Administration Using Cisco and top 10 in business meeting and Management Ben Johnson – top 10 in Management, Marketing and Human Resources Concepts. The following earned their Business Professionals of America Statesman Torch Awards. This Program frames and guides a BPA member’s leadership and service to their chapter and community. Maurice Loridon, Pavan Mahendrada, Nill Patel, Samy Ryan and Jay Trivedi Congratulations to these students on a job well done.
