Taking It Back

Taking It Back

For Christmas, your grandparents bought you an outfit that you are never going to wear. Oh no, what do you do?

1) Check for a gift receipt.

  1. With a gift receipt, you simply head for either the customer service department or, in most stores, any cashier can help you with the return.
  2. No gift receipt: proceed to step 2

2) Ask the giver for a receipt.

  1. Again, with a receipt you can easily return the gift
  2. A lot of people do not like the gifts they get. Let’s be honest, giving the “perfect” gift is challenging. Asking for the receipt may be challenging but also rewarding.

3) Make sure you keep the original packaging.

  1. Presentation is Everything. Put the gift back in the box exactly as it was when you took it out. Stores are more likely to take it back if

4) What to do when you return the gift:

  1. When you return the gift you can get store credit, your money back or you can exchange it for another item.
  2. There will be a ton of great post-Christmas sales going on, so be sure to check those out. You can finally get an item you actually want to keep!

5) What do you do if you don’t have a receipt?

  1. Check store policy. Some stores are very understanding and will let you return it anyway.

6) Enjoy your new gift!
