    Attention all ELL juniors and seniors, pre proficient and proficient. We are taking a bus to JCCC on Thursday to visit the campus and find out about educational programs and services for ELL students.  See Ms. Ledbetter or Ms. Blackburn in Room 11 for a field trip form.

    If you are parking in the student lot without a parking sticker, you have until Nov. 14 to pay for your parking sticker AND get it on your car.  After that time you will be ticketed with a fine.  See Officer Coenen to get your sticker. He will be in his office all this week immediately after school until 3 p.m.

    Would you like to participate in a wonderful program that gives to poor children all over the world? The Operation Christmas child program is collecting shoeboxes full of presents to send to these boys and girls.  If you are interested in filling a shoebox, stop by and pick up information in Room 208.  The deadline for these shoeboxes is Nov. 17-24.

    Bring your parents to the Shawnee Mission Financial Aid Night here at Northwest Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. Topics will include how to qualify and apply for college financial aid, scholarships, loans, grants and other resources, and how to complete the FAFSA.

    Fort Hays State University will be visiting Northwest Thursday at 8 a.m. For more information see Ms. Nick, the counseling secretary.

    Reminder that ALL sports physicals are due to the athletic office by Friday if you plan on trying out for a winter sport.

    Any sophomore boy interested in trying out for basketball needs to attend a meeting on Wednesday morning in Room 228 at 7:25 a.m.  If you are unable to attend the meeting, please see Coach Rose before Wednesday.

    If you are going to wrestle this season and you have not dropped off your sign-up sheet yet, please see Coach Newcomb TODAY or Wednesday.

    Please join us as the following athletes sign their letters of intent to play college sports on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Cafeteria One.  Tatum Graves, Emporia State; Nate Reeder, University of Evansville; Brandon Gomer, University of Evansville; Brett Ferencz JCCC; Casey Kelley, University of Central Missouri.

    The NW Band Booster club is hosting a fundraiser at Johnny’s in Shawnee Nov. 11. Just mention SMNW Band Booster Fundraiser to your server and a portion of your food purchases will go back to support our band programs. Thank you for supporting the band.

    All junior and senior NHS members are welcome to the NHS nerdfest tomorrow from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. in the Main Gym. New members will be sorted into their houses, where there will be food and we will play sports ball.

    A presentation on Arts in the Kansas City Community will be given during all 3 lunches Nov. 19 in Room 9, by NW graduate Lydia Zacharias.  Everyone is welcome but all NHS members who attend this installment of the Speaker Series will receive house points.

    Attention Creative Cougars! It’s time again for the PTSA Reflections Art Contest. This year’s theme is: “The world would be a better place if……….”    You may enter in any of the following categories: Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Music composition, Film production or Dance choreography.  Entries are due on Dec. 16. Please see Ms. Heaton in Room 7 for more details.

    Youth and Government Participants don’t forget our mandatory Youth and Government meeting TONIGHT from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Indian Creek.  See Mrs. Lamourie with questions or concerns.

    Academic Decathlon will meet TODAY after school in Room 241.

    Millions of students have experienced bullying at school, sometimes so bad that it leads to bad grades, fear and anxiety, dropping out of school or even suicide.  If you see bullying, please tell an adult.  Join Key club in the fight to stop bullying!

    The last Orange Army shirts order for the school year is being taken this week only. See a StuCo member in the mall during all 3 lunches on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Shirts are $10. If you had any issues with your orange army t-shirt order, you must see Mrs. Dent in Room 132 immediately. See Alex Oleson with questions.

    Interact Club will be meeting Wednesday in Room 202 at 7:10 a.m. Come to learn about exciting new volunteer opportunities and interact with the fabulous members of this organization!

    Attention ALL second year NHS members: $15 dues and t-shirt forms must be turned into a Executive board member in Room 117 before or after school BY Wednesday, Nov. 19.

    Need a great community service group?  Need hours for NHS or IB?  Want to earn the Presidential Service Award for 100+ hours of service?  Come to the Nov. 14 Key Club meeting.  Caring, it feels good AND looks good on a resume!
