This week is National Suicide Prevention Week. A part of this announcement concerning suicide prevention week was accidentally not included, so here is the complete announcement. Northwest wants every week to be suicide prevention week. There are many resources available that can help people – both at Northwest and outside of school. One of the most valuable resources is having someone to listen and support you. We encourage you to be good listeners to others, to not be so hard on yourself and realize that everyone needs help sometimes.  If you or a friend is feeling depressed or having thoughts of suicide, please talk to a caring adult.  At NW, a social worker, counselor, teacher, or other staff member can help.  Stay safe – we want to see you every week.

This is just a reminder of the orange card process. Parents cannot sign the orange card before teachers have completed the card.  The card must be done correctly, all teachers should sign the card on Wednesday and Thursday, students then take the card home on Thursday night for parent signature, and return the card promptly to their designated coach on Friday morning.  If a parent signs the card before all the classroom teachers have signed, the card will not be accepted and you will be ineligible for the following week.

The girls’ varsity tennis team improved their record to 6 & 0 with a 7-5 win over BV Northwest yesterday. Carley Olson with Tamara Horton and Brooke Bennett with Claire Macek won in doubles by a score of 8-2. Carley Olson, Brooke Bennett, Clair Macek, & Ashley Rogers all had won in singles when Colleen Freeman was playing the last match down 4-7.  Colleen fought back to tie the score and won the match for us by winning the tiebreaker 7-2.  Great playing girls!!  Good luck next Tues. in the Gardner tournament.

The JV Girls tennis team lost 9-3 to Blue Valley Northwest yesterday. Winners in singles were Emmalee Rose at #1 & Nikki Metz at #4. Doubles winners were Carrie Mulder & Emmalee Rose at #1.

Attention students:   Ms. London seminar class will move to room 128 beginning next Thursday.
