    If you love to read, want to talk about books with others, join us after school in the library for SLAB, Student Library Advisory Board.

     

    If you love to knit and you just can’t quit, come to knitting and crochet club today after school at 2:45 p.m. in room 107 to learn and have fun.

     

    The CCC is collecting old jeans and long sleeved shirts for the City of Shawnee Scarecrow festival. Bring them to room 208.

     

    Attention all NHS invitees, remember that all documents needed for your application are due to google classroom no later than Friday, September 19th, 3pm.  Any documents submitted after September 19th, 3pm will not be accepted.  If you have questions see Mrs. Stewart in room 117 before school or Mrs. Boren in room 128 after school.

     

    If any of you are interested in experiencing French culture and would like to practice your French, then come to room 114 on THURSDAY mornings. We will be playing French games, listening to French music, and discussing life (AND food) in France!

     

    Do you play the guitar?  Are you interested in learning how to play guitar? Do you want to be around other people who love guitar?  The NW guitar club is having its first meeting of the year Thursday after school in room 216. Come join us for this first informational meeting and get involved.

     

    Attention Robotics team: There will be a meeting today at 3:00 in Room C.  Anyone interested in joining who missed last week’s informational meeting is welcome to attend.

     

    This week is National Suicide Prevention Week.  At Northwest, we want every week to be suicide prevention week. There are many resources available that can help people – both at Northwest, and outside of school. One of the most valuable resources is having someone to listen and support you. We encourage you to be good listeners to others, to not be so hard on yourself and realize that everyone needs help sometimes

     

    The Cougar Gymnastics team open their season today at SM South.The meet is at 6:00 and we compete with SM East and SM South. Please come to support the JV and Varsity Gymnasts.

     

    The girls’ varsity tennis team defeated SMS & OLN 4-0 & OLNW 3-1 in a quad on Mon.  Congratulations to Tamara Horton for winning 2 out of 3 at #1 singles.  Brooke Bennett & Carli Sommerla won all 3 matches at #2 doubles.  A big congratulations to #2 singles Carley Olsen & #1 doubles of Colleen Freeman with Lexy Drummond for winning all 3 matches 9-0!  Good luck Wed. against OLE.

     

    The JV Girls Tennis Team had a tough 13-5 loss Monday to SM South. The winners in singles were: Claire Macek at #1 and Emmalee Rose at #3. Doubles winners were Claire Macek & Ashley Rogers, Carrie Mulder & Emmalee Rose, and Nikki Metz & Amelia Hoelting. Good luck today against Olathe East!

     

    There will be a baseball meeting for grades 10,11, and 12 only Thursday, 9-18, at 3:10 in Cafeteria #1

     

    The College Now deadline for compass testing, enrollment, and payment is this Friday, September 12.  This is a hard deadline, they will accept no enrollment after this date.  See Mr. Mowry in the office if you have questions.

     

    Pittsburg State University, Drake University and University of Nebraska-Lincoln will be visiting NW first this morning, and Wichita State University will be here tomorrow starting at 8:30am.  For more information see Ms. Nick, the counseling secretary,
