The student section was roaring on Friday night as the Cougars took the court in Olathe. The Orange Army was there in full force to cheer on their boys as the team faced their most difficult challenge of the season, the undefeated Olathe Northwest Ravens.
“We had a great opportunity to knockoff one of the best teams in Kansas, so we wanted to come out strong and execute,” said senior Chase Radar.
At the end of the first quarter the game was tied 8-8. After the first quarter the Cougars started to slow down.
“All year we have been getting stuck in the second quarter. We didn’t make some of the shots we should have and we turned the ball over too much,” Radar said.
The final score was 29-59 in favor of the Ravens. For the Cougars, senior Blake Evans led the team with eight points. Sophomore Jake Horner, junior Marcus McNeace, and senior Logan Unrein all had four points.
The leading scorer for the Ravens was senior Shavon Shields, who contributed 25 points to the team total of 59.
Next week, the boys’ have two home games. On Feb. 7. they face Olathe North, and on Feb. 10. they play Shawnee Mission East. Both of the games are at 7 p.m. Come out and support the Cougars.
