Boys’ Swim Preview
Boys swimming looks to start off season strong
December 2, 2016
As the boys swimming season begins, head coach David Pfortmiller is confident his team will be ready to perform well as a result of their offseason conditioning.
“I had aquatic conditioning this fall for both the boys and girls,” Pfortmiller said. “Some of the boys did the summer league or club teams in the off season.”
During practice Pfortmiller will look build up his team.
“Swimming requires both determination and persistence,” Pfortmiller said. “In order to get better you need to give the effort in practice and practice how you want to race. In practice this year we are going to focus on more mental aspects to get the kids psyched up before each race.”
Pfortmiller says he is most excited to witness the development of some swimmers.
“Having coached some of these kids for 4 years now seeing how they have grown and students and athletes in hopes of seeing them all make it to the state meet this year.”
Senior Brandon Harrell’s favorite part about swimming season is the bonds he forms with his teammates.
“I really like getting to swim with my friends after school everyday,” Harrell said. “I’m looking forward to those memorable moments that I will laugh about after the season.”
The team’s first meet is Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at SMS.
