Jazz pianist Sean Giddings, a 2008 NW graduate, is in town on a short musical tour. He will be playing at The Great Day Café in downtown Overland Park on Nov. 3 from 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Giddings began studying jazz piano at an early age. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of North Texas on a scholarship from The Denver Foundation. He also recently graduated from the university with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies and Performance. As a senior at North Texas, he held the piano spot in the university’s One O’Clock Lab Band. Giddings has performed with many talented jazz artists, including John Clayton, Terell Staffford and Wayne Bergeron, and in the past year, he has performed on five student recordings, receiving multiple awards from DownBeat Magazine.
Jordan Swoyer (2007 NW grad) hosts radio shows on the Kansas State University radio station, 91.9 The Wildcat, and will be interviewing Giddings from 6 – 7 p.m. on Nov. 2.
