Girls Tennis off to a hot start

In the first tennis match of the year, the girls defeated the Olathe South Falcons 7-5. Sophomore Mary Slattery, junior Katie Hansen and freshmen Claire Gordon all were victorious in the match. Also, junior Laura Cale won a decisive match that helped the cougars take home the win. A few days later the girls played again, this time in the SMS Quad match where each team plays against four different teams. The girls emerged victorious again, extending their win streak to five.

The tennis team was on a roll as they headed into their 3rd match of the year (sixth with all four matches at the quad match), though it was postponed due to rain. They were scheduled to face a very tough Blue Valley Northwest team at home. The game was rescheduled for the next day, and the girls upset the Blue Valley Northwest team. Slattery and Gordon played in the only doubles match, where the pair won the key match.
