New Under Armour contract will provide discount sports uniforms

SMSD makes deal to get new uniforms in the future

SMSD has signed a deal with Under Armour and Nill Brothers to provide athletic uniforms to the high school’s sports team. Coaches and booster clubs will buy the uniforms from Nill Brothers and that will provide 10% back to the athletic department to use as needed. The deal will make all sports uniforms Under Armour within the next five years except for the exempt sports/activities. There are three activities exempt from getting Under Armour due to the fact that the company does not make appear to fit their needs—swim, gymnastics and cheerleading.
“I think the intended idea to help the athletic department is based off of some of the retail prices that will be given for the Under Armour apparel,” athletic director Angelo Giacalone said. “I think this will help some of our coaches out in every program and also the 10% that comes back to the school strictly that can be used within the athletic department to help upgrade a variety of areas. I think those in its self will see some long term benefits.”
