    10-5 Announcements 

    It’s spirit week…… today is Hawaiian day, tomorrow is twin day, Wednesday is mis-match day and Thursday is class color day or wear NW colors spirit wear. GO COUGARS!

     

    Homecoming tickets are on sale during all lunches this week,  for the Northwest Homecoming Dance this Saturday October 10th. One ticket is $15 and $28 for two.  If you buy tickets at the door the price is $15 for one and $30 for two.  If you are asking a date who is not a NW student, come and get the outside date form in the office. Forms are due this Wednesday, October 7th

     

    We want to see your Face in the yearbook!  The FINAL picture day for both underclassmen and Seniors is NEXT THURSDAY October 15th.   If you want to get your picture retaken or have not had your picture taken yet, please go to the sign-up sheet outside 151 THIS WEEK and sign up.  Don’t be left out of the yearbook.  Again, sign-ups are outside Room 151 starting TODAY and will go until 1:20 on October 8th.

     

    Athletics:

    Shawnee mission Northwest hosted the Shawnee mission school district “District  Gymnastics meet”.  The Northwest  Gymnastics team placed 1st as our District Champions! Congratulations. In individual awards…  Celeste Gordon placed 5th in vault and 5th all-around, Zoe Kopp placed 6th on beam and 3rd on vault. Leah Steinacker placed 5th on vault, 2nd place in floor, 1st place champion on beam and 3rd all around. For JV in the District, Taylor Moore was the 1st place on beam champion and 3rd place in bars Macey Walsh placed 2nd in vault and was the 1st place bar champion for JV.  Good job gymnastics!!

     

    Congratulations to c team soccer for their win over Shawnee Mission West on Friday. Goals were scored by Hunter Colbert, Eli Hodson, Edy Alvarado, Mason Darpel, and 2 back-to-back goals for Isaac Padilla. Goalkeeper Jacob Shreve earned another shutout for the season.  Way to go!

     

    Counseling:

    Representatives from the University of Southern California, the University of Iowa, the University of Missouri, Kansas State University and Donnelly College will be visiting this week.  Sign-up sheets are located at the counseling secretary’s desk.

     

    11th grade students: You have less than one week to register for the PSAT.  Registration ends Wednesday, October 7th! Registration is online. Please go to the counseling website or see Dr. Leonard for information.

     

    Seniors ONLY: Would you like FREE professional training to improve your ACT score!? If you have taken the test before and scored a 20 – 24 then you are eligible to sign up for the free test prep offered Wednesday, Oct 14. The course is here at school from 7:40 – 11:00. Space is limited. See Mrs. Alvey in the counseling office to sign up

     

    Clubs:

    “At the Olathe Northwest Debate Tournament, the Cougars did their school proud. In the Varsity Division, The team of Braden Pomerantz and Julian Kuffour, and the team of Mihir Shroff and Mary Hayford made OctoFinals.  In the Open Division, the team of Abigail Terrell and Emmanuel Osei took 9th, while Drew Winter and Rozlyn Wohler placed 10th.  Overall, the Cougar Debate Squad took 5th place out of 30 schools.  Great weekend Cougar Debate!!!”

     

    Hey Hey Hey!!!  Orange Army is going PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.  You can purchase a “ PINK”  Orange Army shirt to support the soldiers who are affected by breast cancer.  Profits from these sales will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  Please see the table in the mall during all three lunches today through Thursday of this week or go to room 132, Mrs. Dent’s room.  Shirts can be purchased for $10 for students, parents, siblings, family members, and faculty. 

     

    All students going on the journalism trip to the Orlando National Convention, please meet in room 151 at 2:45 for an update on trip details and vote on a trip options. See you then!

    Attention Spanish Club members– our meeting is tomorrowTuesday, before school at 7:00 in room 109.  Please check your Shawnee Mission email for additional details regarding our Day of the Dead party next week.

     

    No Beatles’ Fan Club meeting this week.  Listen for future announcements for the next meeting.
