Year after year, Northwest students congregate in the main gym to attend the annual bonfire. The bonfire is always precursed by the bonfire assembly, which is taking place this Thursday at 7 p.m.
“It’s the best assembly of the year,” senior Elizabeth Drummond said. “This assembly has no time limit, so there’s a huge variety of sports, clubs and students showing off all the talent we have at Northwest.”
After the assembly, students follow drumline’s hypnotic beat out to the practice baseball field where the actual bonfire is set up. Once the fire is lit, students are free to hang out with their friends and dance around the flame.
“You especially won’t want to miss the huge bonfire,” Drummond said. “The band will be playing, cheerleaders will be stunting, students will be dancing and taking pictures. It’s essential to the Northwest experience.”
